National Night Out Against Crime 2008

National Night Out is a community-police partnership held the first Tuesday of every August sponsored by the Sykesville Police Department to promote the National Association of Town Watch.

On August 19th, 2008., the Sykesville Police Department hosted an outdoor movie viewing of “National Treasure, Book of Secrets” at Millard Cooper Park.  On display were police vehicles and equipment as well as Information on Crime Prevention, Seat Belt and Child Safety-Seat Usage, Children Safety and much, much more.

In conjunction with the movie, the Parks and Events Committee scheduled “KAOS”, a band whose eclectic repertoire of music ranged from the Rolling Stones to Bush, Patsy Cline to No Doubt and Bonnie Raitt to Norah Jones.  A good time was had by all.

We support National Night Out because it is a perfect opportunity for all residents to meet and interact with members of the Sykesville Police Department.
