Construction on the new highway bridge built near Sykesville started in the Fall of 2002. It replaced the existing bridge that crossed River Road, the Patapsco River, and the CSX Railroad. The bridge was open to traffic on May 17, 2004 The old bridge has Historic Status. |

An educational sign is on the east side of the bridge on River Road.
